U-M FACE COVERING POLICY

Beginning immediately, the University of Michigan will require all students, staff, faculty and visitors to wear a face covering that covers the mouth and nose while anywhere on campus grounds. This includes when inside buildings, outdoors and on U-M transportation on all of our campuses. Please read the full policy on the EHS website to review the limited exceptions to this rule, including in single enclosed private offices with doors closed.

TOWN HALL FOR FACULTY & STAFF NEXT WEEK

Dean Alec Gallimore will hold a virtual town hall on Friday, July 24, from 9:00 – 10:30 am for faculty and staff to share and discuss results from recent surveys regarding in-person workplace concerns. This will include COVID-19 pandemic updates from special guest Sharon L.R. Kardia, School of Public Health Associate Dean for Education and Millicent W. Higgins Collegiate Professor of Epidemiology. Deans Kardia and Gallimore will discuss public health protocols regarding a return to on-campus operations and will answer questions raised by faculty and staff. RSVP to this link by Monday, July 20.

PLEASE VOLUNTEER AS A DOOR GREETER

There remains an ongoing, urgent need for staff to volunteer as door entry greeters to allow for safe check-in of College students, faculty and staff into buildings to conduct their work. Shifts are 3 to 6 hours, and staff who volunteer to greet on weekdays, Monday-Friday, receive their normal pay and benefits. Temporary parking passes are available for greeters who need them. Greeters will ask individuals about their health attestation and take the individual’s temperature using a thermal scan thermometer. They will be provided with the necessary PPE to ensure their safety and well-being, as well as all necessary materials to operate the greeter station. To sign up for a shift, please contact Michael Lee at erdragon@umich.edu.

NEW SUPPORT SERIES: THE COACH IS IN

The College is launching a new series of support conversations to tackle issues of worry and fatigue as we navigate these times and amp up for the fall semester. Sessions will be on different days of the week and at different times, from now until the start of the term. “The Coach is In” will feature an opportunity for staff to hear from human resources, psychology, and counseling practitioners, as well as other university staff members – skilled in organizational development, leadership, wellbeing or anti-bias training – and reflect together.

The first will be held Monday, July 20 from 10-12:30 p.m. with a presentation from Michigan Ross Unlocking Resources for Recovery, Renewal and Resilience, followed by a discussion with Engineering’s Director of Leadership Development Heidi Sherick. (Registration for both is required to attend Monday’s session.) Questions can be sent to Ruthie Freeman at frruth@umich.edu.

ENTRY POINTS FOR BUILDING ACCESS

College buildings remain restricted to any individuals not approved for mission-critical activities or research. All individuals with approval must complete their COVID safety training in My Linc and follow all protocols, which include swiping into buildings with their Mcard at a greeter door location. It is essential for us to maintain access to buildings, with each individual swiping into them. Please do not hold open doors or bring others into the building with you. Greeters from departments, divisions and units are assigned at various buildings entry points. Entry points will be updated weekly on the College’s COVID website.
