Resources for our Post Doctoral Community

Hello everyone,

I hope you are all healthy, safe, and are settling into a new routine after we transitioned our research activities off campus.  As you adjust to these necessary actions we are collectively taking, I wanted to take a moment to reach out to you and offer our support.

Many of us are under shelter in place/stay at home orders and are feeling cut off from the outside world, we may be living alone, or not have supportive family members/friends. It may be triggering feelings of anxiety, panic, depression or challenging our resilience. There are resources available for you to use currently  as well as online resources that will be available by the end of the month.

1) Faculty and Staff Counseling and Consultation Office (FASCCO) is open and available to provide support to U-M faculty and staff with phone sessions and limited video sessions as appropriate. Call 734-936-8660 or email fascco@umich.edu to schedule.

2) The College of Engineering is in the process of acquiring access to SilverCloud, an online, self-guided, interactive resource that will provide all learners and employees with no-cost, confidential help for mental health issues and stress management program 24 hours a day.

SilverCloud offers self-guided exercises to help employees change beliefs and behaviors so they are thinking and feeling better. SilverCloud’s evidence-based learning modules address: Anxiety, Depression, Stress and Resilience. It will also offer support within each module around COVID-19 concerns. We hope to have this service available for use by the end of April. We will share information on it as soon as it becomes available.

And, if you have questions or concerns about how the current situation is altering the course of your research program, feel free to reach out to us in the College of Engineering:

Steve Ceccio, Associate Dean for Research – ceccio@umich.edu
Rick Vanden Heuvel, Director of Research Development –hoovervh@umich.edu
Joanne Navarre — Development Research Specialist – mjnavarr@umich.edu

Thanks, and please stay well.
